Ski Fashion

Cold weather fashion becomes all about statement pieces – boots, jackets, thick sweaters, and hats. Looking chic at the ski lodge can be comfortable, warm and easy if you’ve got the right stuff.

Michael Kors featured plenty of cozy fur and knit wear. Any of these ensembles can be worn to a 5-star dinner after a day of skiing.

Burberry achieved the somewhat elusive concept of practical winter high-fashion with their sturdy, shearling lined buckled leather boots (ankle and knee-high).  The jumbo fur peacoat and super high collar shearling coat looked especially warm, and the gray fur-lined trench inspired jacket managed to look figure flattering and cozy at the same time.

Resort 2011 Trend: Maxi Dresses

Maxi dresses are everywhere for Resort 2011. Michael Kors kept it clean with a bright ombre hue and simple cut. Chanel was inspired by the 70′s and created flowy, romantic pieces. Lanvin was also inspired by caftans and created striking, edgy silhouettes. Richard Nicoll kept it classic, and Jill Stuart went back to its romantic roots.

Chanel’s 70′s inspired caftan maxi dress is one of my favorite resort pieces. It has movement, embellishments, and color, and looks exactly like what you envision wearing on a fabulous vacation.

A white linen maxi dress is a must for vacation – this Chanel piece adds something extra with several puffy 70s inspired tiers.

This Chanel halter dress has incredible movement and color, and the halter top does great things for cleavage! It would look spectacular with stiletto sandals and bangles for evening.

Peach is a universally flattering color that looks especially amazing on tanned skin. The ombre detail of the fabric makes it interesting, and the classic cut is figure flattering.

Resort 2011: Lanvin

This striking dress by Lanvin is comfortable and sexy at the same time. The snakeskin print makes it stand out, and the cut will work on most body types. Add some chunky jewelry and some giant wedges to complete the look.

Another 70s inspired piece, this time by Lanvin. The cut of this dress is very simple, and the sleeves create that 70s inspired look.

This black Lanvin maxi dress accentuates a tanned décolleté, shoulders and back. The jeweled halter eliminates the need for much jewelry, and the hem is higher in the front to show of fabulous shoes. Easy glamour.

This sarong inspired dress is an interesting take on the maxi, and features a fun print.  A slit in the back and a little sheerness adds a bit of sensuality.

Resort 2011: Jill Stuart

This maxi by Jill Stuart is super romantic. The blush and nude tones combined with the frills and flowy fabric make this dress the perfect dinner-for-two ensemble on a romantic getaway.

Resort 2011 Trend: Long Skirts

For Resort 2011, designers showed a  relaxed and playful side with longer garments that have movement and can be worn from day to night. A long skirt paired with a sheer sweater looks effortlessly chic and sexy, and is comfortable all day long.

This white skirt with sheer top can also be thrown over a bathing suit and worn into the night. Or put it on in the morning for shopping and then wear it for dinner and drinks.

This look by Michael Kors is easy and chic. The blush pink tone looks great on tanned skin, and the sheerness of the sweater adds a hint of sexiness.

Balenciaga’s long skirt ensemble is serious and casual at the same time. The sheerness of the fabric gives it a light and airy feel, and the black trim and belt make it more than just a linen skirt and blouse.

This look by Richard Nicoll is the perfect evening wear during an exotic vacation. The sheer top keeps it light, the belt accentuates the waist, and the high slit shows off tanned legs.

This long skirt look by Richard Nicoll features a long, light sweater and sheer skirt in neutral tones. The vertical stripes and length of the sweater elongate legs. This outfit would be perfect for a day on the yacht and dinner and drinks afterward – just add some sparkly jewelry.

Miu Miu’s long printed skirts are playful and fun. They would look great with a bikini top, sky high wedges, long necklaces and crop top for a day to evening look.
