Maxi dresses are everywhere for Resort 2011. Michael Kors kept it clean with a bright ombre hue and simple cut. Chanel was inspired by the 70′s and created flowy, romantic pieces. Lanvin was also inspired by caftans and created striking, edgy silhouettes. Richard Nicoll kept it classic, and Jill Stuart went back to its romantic roots.
Chanel’s 70′s inspired caftan maxi dress is one of my favorite resort pieces. It has movement, embellishments, and color, and looks exactly like what you envision wearing on a fabulous vacation.
A white linen maxi dress is a must for vacation – this Chanel piece adds something extra with several puffy 70s inspired tiers.
This Chanel halter dress has incredible movement and color, and the halter top does great things for cleavage! It would look spectacular with stiletto sandals and bangles for evening.
Peach is a universally flattering color that looks especially amazing on tanned skin. The ombre detail of the fabric makes it interesting, and the classic cut is figure flattering.
This striking dress by Lanvin is comfortable and sexy at the same time. The snakeskin print makes it stand out, and the cut will work on most body types. Add some chunky jewelry and some giant wedges to complete the look.
Another 70s inspired piece, this time by Lanvin. The cut of this dress is very simple, and the sleeves create that 70s inspired look.
This black Lanvin maxi dress accentuates a tanned décolleté, shoulders and back. The jeweled halter eliminates the need for much jewelry, and the hem is higher in the front to show of fabulous shoes. Easy glamour.
This sarong inspired dress is an interesting take on the maxi, and features a fun print. A slit in the back and a little sheerness adds a bit of sensuality.
This maxi by Jill Stuart is super romantic. The blush and nude tones combined with the frills and flowy fabric make this dress the perfect dinner-for-two ensemble on a romantic getaway.
This look by Richard Nicoll features a tank top upper with high waist belt and sheer bottom skirt, adding a trendy twist to a classic cut and color combo.
This maxi by Richard Nicoll is covered-up-sexy. The sheer top adds a little edge and the waist belt accentuates the figure.
